Red Fern Riding Center is an Authorized Concessionaire for Shelby Trails Park.

Our mission is to promote a multi-discipline, multi-breed, equestrian facility with an emphasis on community outreach, equine education, and promotion to the novice rider. 

Red Fern Riding Center is a fully operational horseback riding and educationally based outreach facility.

Experience Kentucky's horse country by taking a guided tour on horseback. Explore your premier equestrian center and nature preserve as you and your trusty steed saunter down the trail with one of our seasoned guides. Our 1 1/2 hour tours include safety training and a short introductory lesson, followed by one hour out on the trail.

We provide English riding lessons instructing adults and children. We welcome first time riders to advanced students to learn the joy of riding in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our primary discipline is Eventing with a heavy emphasis on dressage foundations. We teach horsemanship, safety and building relationship with horses through equality, communication and shared partnership.

Our training program is geared toward starting horses under saddle - young and gold and helping horses and clients who are experiencing challenges in their training or relationship with their horse. We help to identify and solve issues around groundwork, nervousness, pushiness, distracted, disengaged or buddy sour horses. We can help you assess if your horse, or potential horse is the right fit for you and your goals.

We offer full-care board for horse owners. Our facility has both indoor and outdoor arenas, large 12 x 12 stalls and direct access to over 25 trails and 462 acres of park lands. .

Boarding at Red Fern Riding Center gives you access to lessons, clinics and events at the Park! And the best part; we have a wonderful, cohesive barn family with a variety of interests, breeds and schedules.

Our pony rides are taught by our amazing instructors and designed to be safe, as well as fun. Children will be led by an instructor and closely monitored during the ride. During your pony experience, kids will get to learn fun pony facts, safety basics and how to walk, steer and stop. Your pony will be decked out and photo ready to capture those precious moments with their new-found friend!
